Salim Dada, سليم دادة is an Algerian musician and composer.

Born in Laghouat, in the Algerian Sahara in 1975. Painter since young age, it is only at age the 18 years in university, that Salim Dada acquires these first steps of music with the guitarist A.Gourine, to carry out after and during 10 years a work of autodidact, where it improves his technique of classical guitar, studies the Western and Eastern musical theory, as well as the harmony. In this period, it presented these first compositions for guitar solo and duet as well as with violin and Oud.
Between 2002 and 2005 it thorough the cycle of the musical writing (harmony, counterpoint and analysis) with the composer Jean-Luc Kuczynski at the French school of remote formation “Polyphonies”, and as a free listener at the Higher National Institute of Music of Algiers with the academician from Moscow Dr. Golnara Bouyagoub. In this period, it obtains also its Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical Faculty of Algiers.
With a study bourse in Italy, between 2008 and 2010 it studies the "Direction of orchestra" in the State Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” of Torino with maestro Guido Maria Guido.
In 2010 it's in La Sorbonne of Paris "Research Musicology".

Salim Dada is the author of several symphonic compositions, chamber music, guitar pieces also for polyphonic choir and jazz ensemble. It also carries a great interest to film music, theatre and ballet. In 2007 and for the first time in Algeria, Salim Dada was nominated “Composer in Residence” near the Algerian National Symphony Orchestra, with which it created several new compositions: 7 creations and 30 concerts in two years.

The compositions of Salim Dada were winner in several contests and were presented in several international festivals. They were played and commissioned in many countries of world: Algeria, Germany, Italy, Austria, French, Morocco, Syria, Egypt, Argentina, Bolivia, Holland, Spain and Qatar. And by various orchestras and ensembles: Orchestre Symphonique National Algérien, Arab Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Euro-Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique du Pays de Fontainebleau, “Ensemble Conductus” di Merano, “Orquestra Terrassa48” di Catalonia, “Calefax Reed Quintet” from The Netherlands, Orchestra d’archi del Perinaldo Festival, Orchestra de Archi Propedeutica del Conservatorio di Torino, Orchestra Internacional “Pequeñas Huellas” de niños para la paze, Scuola del quartetto e della percussione del conservatorio di Torino, Ensemble “Al Ouns” of Laghouat and “Bassamat” Oud Duet from Paris.

In 2007, its “ASHWAQ” (Samaï Nahawound for Orchestra) was selected to represent the Arab symphonic music in Germany, by the Arab Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. This composition inaugurated 3 international festivals: International Festival of Robert Schumann of Bonn, 57° International Festival of Young Orchestras Richard Wagner at Bayreuth, and International Festival of Arts at Oberwarensteinach.

In 2008, the international meetings of the Contemporary art of Merano (Italy) they presented in Premiere his “LOVE SONG” and “FREEDOM DANCE”, by the Conductus Ensemble.

Its “LOUNGA NAHAWOUND” (Symphonic dance) was selected in 2008 to present the Mediterranean culture at Damascus (Syria) for the “1st Festival of Euro-Mediterranean Orchestra”.

Its “SOUVENIRS D’ENFANCE” (symphonic poem) were presented in 2009 in Egypt by the Cairo Symphony orchestra for the Overture of the 7th Festival of the Arab Composers “Arab Perspectives Festival”.

Its string quartet “FINE DELL' INIZIO” was chosen to represent Conservatory of Torino, in the activities of festival “Settembre Musica, MITO 2009” in Milano.

Salim Dada is the winner of “Annual Encore Composition Competition for Reed Quintet” with his “ZAYDAN DANCE”, presented by Calefax Reed Quintet in “PAN6 festival” at Amsterdam in December 2009.

In January 2010, its “FREEDOM DANCE”, was selected for testified the Mediterranean music by the orchestra Terrassa 48 in Catalonia (Spain).

More the composition, Salim Dada shares its love and its knowledge of the music by the teaching of Arab music, guitar, techniques of the musical writing (harmony, counterpoint), orchestration and composition. It also ensures the direction of his compositions and conducting of the orchestras of traditional music, where it plays old instruments such as the Oud, Kwitra and percussions. It also publishes and in a periodic way of the articles of musical analysis and artistic criticism.

Music of Salim Dada is considerate in Europe as a “Bridge” which connects the Occident to the East, and a message of peace and of dialogue from the Arabic and Islamic world towards Occident.

Since November 2008, Salim Dada lives in Italy.
