Samson and Gert is a Flemish
children's television series produced by Studio 100
, which debuted on 1 February 1989. It has run for a few years with no new episodes, but the series is broadcast every day on Ketnet. The program revolves around a man Gert together with his talking dog (Samson). Usually one or more characters will go to Samson's house and cause variouse situations; both funny, and chaotic.
From 1989 to 2005 television episodes ofSamson and Gert were run,and every year a CD was released. From 2006-2010 there were no more episodes. Each year, the Samson & Gert Christmas Show (until 2006 with a two-part broadcast of the Christmas Show in February,which since 2008 have been shown at Studio100 TV Christmas shows), which have been in progress since 1991.
Samson is a talking bobtail
, which is constantly 'difficult' and tends to be mouthy. His master, Gert, corrects him every time (They are best friends). Gert is in love with Marlèneke, a woman who often goes out with Jean-Louis Michel, a rich snob. Marlèneke is an unseen character

Samson and Gert live together in a large house with a prominent basement
and cooking. Their house number is 101, but the street is unknown. Their visitors tend to knock loudly on the door, and later apologize.
Another element of the program is the regular catchphrases. The character that is already the longest involved in the series is hairdresser Albert Vermeersch, a true gourmand, who often over eats. As a hobby, he sings in the opera and is therefore approached with an Italian version of his name, Alberto Vermicelli. Gert, however, repeatedly refers to him as "Albert", which angers Alberto. Modest Also, the playful and not too savvy mayor of the village, often comes along. Another character is Octave Bolle, an honorary vice president of a turnvereniging, often very arrogant.
During the early years, the house was introduced, and the characters often talked directly to the audience in it, but in later years it was no longer turned to the viewers. Sometimes with a variety of cartoons, but later, Ketnet sent Samson and Gert as long coherent episodes, in which the plot was no longer interrupted.
Besides Samson and Gert were other solid characters: Joop Mix, their unhelpful neighbor, Alberto Vermicelli, Octave De Bolle Modest and the mayor. In 1992 he disappeared from the mix series, along with Octave, and Miranda (Liesbet Verstraeten). That year was also expanded the set of recordings in the basement and kitchen of Samson home and became their living room larger. In 1993, viewers were also the office of mayor, Alberto's hairdresser and Octave's department store to see. In 1994 Octave domineering mother, Jeannine De Bolle introduced. In 1995 and 1996, Sophie, the niece of the mayor, (Evi Hanssen) as a guest in several episodes.

At the end of the studio show was always an episode aired: either an episode from that period who was never broadcast or a repeat of the 1992-1993 season.
The successor was the "caravan show": that ran from 1996-1998. The intro of the program was as follows: Samson and Gert steps from their homes and drive their car and a caravan-trailer into the woods. In their caravan they read letters, drawings and poems. The mayor went to the school of love children and Alberto had his jokes section. Octave and Mrs. Jeannine were not of the party in the caravan shows. There were again broadcast cartoons and episodes from the period 1994-1996.
In the autumn of 2010 celebrate their 20th anniversary Samson.
From 1990-2005, there are over 750 episodes, all in the same scenes were included, and (on two episodes after) not out on location. Since 2005, there are no shows.

History
Originally, Gert Verhulst was an announcer of (child) programs at the former National Institute TV2. He got in touch with Danny Verbiest, who had previously worked on several series of Dutch jeugdduo Bassie & Adriaan, and so the idea was to own a television to boot. Verhulst and Verbiest made the first episode of "Samson" with the Christmas period of 1988. This performance proved so successful, that they soon got their own show in 1989, which was broadcast once a week.During the early years, the house was introduced, and the characters often talked directly to the audience in it, but in later years it was no longer turned to the viewers. Sometimes with a variety of cartoons, but later, Ketnet sent Samson and Gert as long coherent episodes, in which the plot was no longer interrupted.

Samson & Gert Christmas Show
Samson & Gert Christmas Show is an annual series of performances of Samson & Gert in the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp. In 1991 the show was first organized by the National Institute. Since 1997 the show is owned by Studio 100.Series
