Samuel Hooper was a businessman and US congressman from Massachusetts

Hooper was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts
. He received a common school education and was employed as an agent for an importing firm and traveled extensively in foreign countries. He left this in 1832 and engaged in the importing business in Boston, Massachusetts, then later the iron business.
Hooper was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives
, serving from 1851 to 1853. He later served in the Massachusetts Senate
