Sanders was once called Limestone, Indiana. A Bloomington, Indiana newspaper called The Bloomington Telephone, date unreadable but dated between March 3 and March 13, 1903 printed this small notice: "A bill has passed the Senate and will likely become a law changing the name of 'Limestone,' in the south part of this county, to 'Sanders.' A law is necessary to correct irregularities in titles of land in the town plats."
