"In accordance with section 13 (3) of the Education Act 2005, HMCI is of the opinion that this
school requires special measures because it is failing to give its pupils an acceptable standard
of education and the persons responsible for leading, managing or governing the school are
not demonstrating the capacity to secure the necessary improvement.

Leadership and management has also been described as "inadequate".

The Governors and Senior Management have a clear commitment to continual and sustained improvement in pupils’ attainment and in the richness of the curriculum the school provides."

In February 2008 the college moved into a brand new £17.3 million state-of-the-art building, boasting an ICT rich environment, a £1.2 million sports hall, a 21st century Business & Enterprise Centre, including its own purpose built restaurant and a fully equipped recording studio for college and community use, together with numerous other specialist facilities.

Following an Ofsted inspection, the school was placed in "special measures". In the report, leadership and management were described as "inadequate" while the teaching was found to be satisfactory, with some outstanding lessons.

The college was inspected again on 2nd and 3rd March 2010 and subsequently came out of "special measures."
