Geography

Sapinero is located at 38°27′35"N 107°18′12"W (38.459638,-107.303295). It was re-established in this location after its original site was abandoned in about 1963, prior to being inundated by the rising water of Blue Mesa Reservoir. The original town was on the north bank of the Gunnison River, just downstream from the mouth of Soap Creek, at approximately (38.47042, -107.30600). This was about one mile north of its current location.
