, started playing music at the age of 6. By the age of 13 he grabbed the guitar. Although Sascha is left-handed, he started playing a "normal" right-handed guitar. With 17 years old, he was already known as "outstanding talent" in south Germany's music scene and in 1996 he was spotted by Chris Bay and Dan Zimmermann
, who hired him for their band Freedom Call
. Gerstner stayed with Freedom Call until 2001, performing on their first two albums and touring with them all over Europe three times.
When he left Freedom Call he started to produce other young artists and worked as a co-writer for several acts.
In 2002 Charlie Bauerfeind
introduced Sascha Gerstner to Michael Weikath
of Helloween
, and he was soon hired as a replacement for their departed guitarist Roland Grapow
. Since then, Sascha Gerstner is a permanent member of Helloween.
Having stated in several interviews, "It's not only about music ( mentioned, he is open minded for any style of music ), it´s more about art in general", it makes sense that Sascha Gerstner is known as a photographer as well.
In 2006 he opened his recording&mixing studio G-Tracks, with clients Saxon, HammerFall
