Schuster (crater)
Encyclopedia
Schuster is a lunar
impact crater
that lies along the eastern rim of the much larger walled plain Mendeleev
, on the far side of the Moon
. To the east of Schuster is the crater Henderson
, and to the southeast lies the large Chaplygin
.
The schuster is a worn and eroded crater formation, with the most intact portion of the rim along the western half where it overlaps Mendeleev. There is a tight cluster of small craterlets along the northern inner wall and floor where the crater rim joins the rim of Mendeleev. The satellite craters Schuster N and Schuster R overlie the southwestern rim edge. At the mid-point of the crater interior is a central peak. The eastern half of the floor is pock-marked by small and tiny craterlets.
Moon
The Moon is Earth's only known natural satellite,There are a number of near-Earth asteroids including 3753 Cruithne that are co-orbital with Earth: their orbits bring them close to Earth for periods of time but then alter in the long term . These are quasi-satellites and not true moons. For more...

Impact crater
In the broadest sense, the term impact crater can be applied to any depression, natural or manmade, resulting from the high velocity impact of a projectile with a larger body...

Mendeleev (crater)
Mendeleev is a large lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon, as seen from the Earth. The southern rim of this walled plain just crosses the lunar equator. Intruding into the eastern rim of Mendeleev is the crater Schuster...

Henderson (crater)
Henderson is a crater on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the east of the huge walled plain Mendeleev. This is a worn crater with a shallow rim. No significant craters overlie the rim or interior, but a smaller, worn crater is attached to the southern outer rim. A ridge of material runs...

Chaplygin (crater)
Chaplygin is a large lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the southeast of the huge walled plain Mendeleev, about mid-way between the craters Schliemann to the northeast and Marconi to the southwest. It is about the same size as Albategnius on the near...

Satellite craters
By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Schuster.Schuster | Latitude | Longitude | Diameter |
