Selwood returned to the senior side in Round 16, three months after his previous game, against the Brisbane Lions

 at the expense of veteran Michael Braun. Although a poor performance, amassing a six possessions, he was retained for the unexpected win against St Kilda. This time he gave a greater output, gaining a career high 15 possessions and also scoring his first goal. Selwood is currently trying to have a regular place in the senior side.

Over his first four games, Selwood has averaged 11 possessions per game. In the 2011 football season he has averaged 19 disposals, and 8.4 tackles per game (the fourth highest tackle per game average in the AFL), for a total of 67, the third highest total in the AFL. Selwood finished the 2011 regular season with the highest amount of tackles made of any player for the season.
