footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Borussia Dortmund
. He is naturally left footed and has also occasionally appeared at left back
. He is well known for his tackling as well as his passing.
He is the current captain of Dortmund; he first wore the captain's armband in a 2–1 German Supercup victory over Bayern Munich
.
