He was employed for two years at Goldman on a salary of $400,000. In early June, he left Goldman to join Teza Technologies, a Chicago start-up which offered to triple his pay.
He was convicted in U.S. Federal court in December 2010 of the two counts of theft of stolen property and transportation of stolen property, and was sentenced to 97 months in prison, three-years of supervised release following his prison sentence, and a $12,500 fine..
Prior to sentencing, Mr. Aleynikov was incarcerated on request of the government, as he was judged to be more of a flight risk after separating from his wife and growing distant from his kids.
The case is U.S. v. Aleynikov, 1:10-cr-00096, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.
