In an effort to promote industrialization and increase the share of manufacturing in India's GDP

has decided to undertake the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project
. It is an ambitious project aimed at developing an Industrial Zone spanning across six states in India. It is being developed with Japanese assistance.
As part of the DMIC the state has decided to develop the Shendra

belt in Aurangabad as planned industrial township.

, has been roped in as a consultant for planning the township. The state has also decided to rope in a Japanese consortium to recommend use of technology for infrastructure upgrades in these areas.
Based on the investment potential of an area, the state has plans to develop the Aurangabad belt as an automobile and engineering hub.
An Exhibition and Convention Center is being developed at Sendra.
Recently the Government of India
has announced a New National Manufacturing Policy. Under this policy, seven National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZ) are proposed to be set up. It aims, setting up of mega industrial towns on waste and infertile land acquired by the government. Shendra
