. The shire, administered from Rocklea
, covered an area of 175 square miles (453 km²), and existed as a local government entity from 1879 until 1925, when it was split up following the creation of the City of Brisbane
under the City of Brisbane Act 1924.
On 1 October 1925, the Shire of Yeerongpilly was abolished, with its urban area becoming part of the new City of Brisbane
, and the rural areas being divided between the Shires of Beaudesert

and Waterford.

History
On 11 November 1879, the Yeerongpilly Division was created as one of 74 divisions within Queensland under the Divisional Boards Act 1879. With the passage of the Local Authorities Act 1902, it became a Shire on 31 March 1903.On 1 October 1925, the Shire of Yeerongpilly was abolished, with its urban area becoming part of the new City of Brisbane
