Shiv-Hari refers to the Indian music director
duo of Shivkumar Sharma

and the unusual way in which this Indian classical music album was organized, the result was a fresh, edgy and slightly controversial form of music. The innovative use of the guitar on the album made it popular among people from Western countries. It is still one of the most successful Indian classical music albums ever made.
This marked the beginning of the partnership of the two masters and numerous live outings followed over the years. As a nod to the 1967 concept album, the duo released a live album The Valley Recalls in 1995.
Silsila, Shiv-Hari's first major hit, starred Amitabh Bachchan
and Rekha and had most of lyrics written by Javed Akhtar
. Three songs stand out from the rest of the score: the romantic duet Dekha Ek Khwab (sung by Lata Mangeshkar
, Kishore Kumar
, and chorus), the poetic Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum (rendered by Lata Mangeshkar, interspersed with dialogue recited by Amitabh Bachchan), and the Holi
song Rang Barse (sung by Amitabh Bachchan). Incidentally, the latter song was penned by Amitabh Bacchan's father Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The movie's soundtrack was so successful that it earned Shiv-Hari a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Music Director.
The two other major musical scores done by Shiv-Hari are Chandni and Darr. Chandni featured the all-time classic Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Chudiyan Hai by Lata Mangeshkar. Darr (which starred Sunny Deol
