Shorelink
Encyclopedia
Shorelink is a commuter bus company serving suburbs on the upper North Shore
of Sydney
, Australia
. On 3 September 2001, the company was acquired by French
public transport giant Transdev
from the John A Gilbert group, forming a partnership with Transfield Services Limited in 2009. The service then operated with TransdevTSL branding, however since the merge of Veolia Transport and Transdev, the partnership has been dissolved and the operator is now only identified externally as Transdev.
Shorelink was originally formed from the amalgamation of Hornsby Bus Group and Ku-ring-gai Bus Co. In 1998 they acquired part of the former St Ives Bus Company. Prior its acquisition by Transdev, Shorelink also owned and operated Koala Tours coaches, which has since been sold to Murrays Coaches
.
and Transfield Services
began joint operations in Australia, Shorelink buses were rebranded in TransdevTSL livery. TransdevTSL became the Australian arm of French transport giant Transdev. The new livery was similar to the Yarra Trams
design, which was previously run by TransdevTSL. The move was in a similar fashion to the bus companies owned by Veolia Transport
being rebranded with their parent company's corporate name, Veolia.
On 3 March 2011, Veolia Transport and Transdev merged, ending the cooperation between Transfield Services Limited and the Australian branch of Transdev. Shorelink is currently in the process of repainting their bus fleet in the new Department of Transport livery to be applied to every bus operator in Sydney. As part of the new livery, the only distinguishing feature between various operators is their individual logo which appears at the top of each side of the vehicle, with Shorelink services now being externally identified by the Transdev logo.
Shorelink is currently referred to as Transdev - Shorelink Buses on its website.
