. Run in mid May, it is open to fillies
and mare

event, it offers a purse of $150,000. The Shuvee is one of the first prep races for the Breeders' Cup Distaff
.
Inaugurated in 1976 as a one mile race, it was run at a mile-and-a-sixteenth from 1977 to 1992, and again in 1994. In 1995 the distance reverted to its original one mile.
The race was named after the great U.S. Racing Hall of Fame
