Sigma Alpha Lambda is a National Leadership and Honors Organization in the United States dedicated to developing the individual and serving the campus
and community
. Its mission is to recognize members for academic achievement, to engage members in service, and to develop members for leadership.
The purpose of Sigma Alpha Lambda is to:
To promote academic excellence at the chapter and national level and to encourage high academic achievement among school-aged children through participation in school-based mentoring programs.
To engage university students, faculty, and staff as well as the surrounding community in meaningful, relevant service initiatives and raise awareness for worthwhile causes.
To promote an understanding of the service model of leadership, to educate on the philosophy of leading through service, and to develop leadership skills based on the principles of servant leadership.

Membership
Sigma Alpha Lambda is dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development, and lifelong professional fulfillment. Membership in Sigma Alpha Lambda is open to all undergraduate students who meet the national requirements of sophomore classification or higher with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Membership is also open to graduate students who meet the GPA requirement for undergraduates.Statement of Purpose
