Simple is a Portland, OR based banking industry start up founded by Josh Reich. The company is currently beta testing a bank offering that they claim will give consumers more information regarding their finances by utilizing an advanced website and smart phone applications. The company does not actually handle financial transactions, but instead partners with banking institutions that handle all financial transactions.

History

The company was founded in Portland, OR as BankSimple in 2010 by Josh Reich, Shamir Karkal and Alex Payne. BankSimple raised Series A funding from First Round Capital, IA Ventures, and Village Ventures and a series B from Visa, The Bancorp Bank, CBW Bank, Allpoint, and Andera

In 2011 the company rebranded itself as Simple on November 5, 2011.
