Family

On 16 November 1655, he married firstly Margaret Bulkeley, daughter of Francis Bulkeley and had by her two sons and a daughter. After her death Bampfylde remmarried Jane Pole, daughter of Sir Courtenay Pole, 2nd Baronet at Houghton, Devonshire on 21 October 1674. His second marriage was childless. Bampfyle died of gout at Warleigh and was buried at Poltimore. On his deathbed, he pledged his assembled family to loyalty to the Church of England
