Differences from the novel
- In the novel, Alex meets his future best friend Sabina Pleasure at Wimbledon when they're both working as ballboys. In the graphic novel series, Alex is already friends with her, and runs into her in the audience. Sabina is at home for the rest of the tournament.
- In both the novel and the graphic novel, Alex surfs the Cribber wave in Cornwall. In the novel, Alex is attacked by a Big Circle member in the middle of his ride, falls off and nearly drowns. In the graphic novel, Alex doesn't get attacked and is never in any real danger (when he falls off his board when he's near the shore).
- In the novel when Alex attacks the Salesman he is barefoot, in the graphic novel his feet had been cut off.
