On historical maps the village can be found as Sloupnitz with parts Ober Slupnitz (Upper Sloupnitz) and Unter Sloupnitz (Lower Sloupnitz). The name of Džbánovec is diminutive name derived from geographical name Džbánov (Džbánov is neighbour village to Sloupnice).
