". They finished on 18th place out of 19 in semifinal. Slovakia returned in 2010 contest with Horehronie by Kristina with similar result (16th out of 17 places), despite being a fan favourite. Though STV originally stated that Slovakia will not return to Eurovision Song Contest 2011, it features in the final list of participants.

The EBU (European Broadcasting Union) has officially confirmed that Slovakia will be competing in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. STV (Slovak National Television) had decided to withdraw from Eurovision during 2010 due to a merger and financial problems. STV’s official application to withdraw from the contest was confirmed on the January 7th 2010, however the deadline for withdrawing from the competition had already passed. To avoid paying a fine imposed for withdrawing from the competition late, STV have decided to compete in the 2011 contest. Slovakia will compete in the first half of the second semi finals of the 2011 contest.

STV will announce the act for the 2011 competition and present the song on February 18th. Unlike previous years, the decision will be taken by an internal jury set up by STV.

On February 18th 2011 STV revealed their choice for Slovakia's Eurovision 2011 entry.
The song is entitled "I’m Still Alive" and will be performed by twin sisters Daniela and Veronika Nízlová better known as the pop duo TWiiNS.

Daniela and Veronika Nízlová have experience Eurovision before as backing singers and dancers for Tereza Kerndlová, the Czech entry in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. The 2011 entry is the first Slovakian entry performed in English.
