The street added buildings in the mid-20th century. The Athens Stock Exchange

 was first opened in 1876 on the street's north side. It later added modernistic eight storey-buildings in most parts while neo-classical buildings still exist. Traffic lights and street lights were also added. Traffic lights were added at Pireos, Sokratous, Athinas and Aiolou.
