Sophie Juliette McKay is a fictional character

soap opera Shortland Street
. She was introduced in late 2006 as the daughter of surgeon Justine Jones
and GP Callum McKay
. She was briefly married to Kieran Mitchell
in early 2010 before they separated.
Soon Sophie settled into Ferndale High relatively easily though she is immediately at odds with Scarlett Valentine
. In April 2007, a frustrated Scarlett attempts to run Sophie's brother Hunter
down in her father's SUV, leaving Ferndale soon after. Scarlett's actions lead Sophie to question her own previously shallow life, and she becomes more socially aware. Sophie then starts up a successful blog which backstabs her friends. This in turn results in Sophie becoming hated for a period until she abandons the blog. Sophie dates and sleeps with Nate Adamson, but they break up after he realizes he is gay and in love with Hunter. Hunter, however, is romantically involved with Nate's mother Tess

Sophie has a one night stand with Tane in 2008, leaving him thinking she is his girlfriend. Her mother Justine Jones had trouble with a ruthless gang known as the whitetails who were hired by the dodgy pharmaceutical company Scott Spear. She then moved to Australia in Witness protection.

whom she kissed on 15 June. Kieran succumbed to Sophie's charms and they have started a secret relationship. On 24 July 2009, Sophie becomes a journalist and her brother Hunter had just lost a patient in the bush to look up and discover her taking photos of the dead patient. Later that night her ex boyfriend, Daniel Potts, caught Sophie kissing Keiran Mitchell. Sophie has now come public about her relationship with Keiran and she has also moves out of home and now lived with him. However, she now has found out that Kieran is the owner of an escort agency and their relationship is put under strain. When Sophie's family find out, they too are against the two.
Kieran's younger brother Sean Mitchell arrives into the scene and Sophie demands Kieran get rid of him. Nonetheless, the two get engaged.
In 2010 Sophie becomes concerned at Kieran's dark and sad nature. The two attempt to get married in February but Libby
arrives at the altar with evidence that Kieran killed Morgan
. However Sean is charged for the crime. Sophie finally marries Kieran on 5 March 2010.
Sophie befriends creepy professor Ashton Fuller and tries to expose him for sleeping with students, however he finds out and embarrasses her in front of her fellow pupils.
Sophie gets a txt from an anonymous source
alerting her that Kieran has been blackmailed and is hiding it from her. Sophie demands a divorce and a few weeks later starts dating her lecturer Ashton Fuller. However Sophie finds the man possessive and thinks he is stalking her. He continued to follow her and Kieran broke into his house and severely beat him. On 3 August 2010, Sophie discovered that Kieran had died and that he was the true killer of Morgan and she went to Australia to grieve with her mother. In December 2010 Sophie discoved that Kieran's body was found with matching dental records, she begins to date old fling Daniel Potts once again.
In 2011 Sophie becomes jealous of Daniel's friend Jill Kingsbury
and assumes there is something between her and Daniel. Though Jill soon starts dating Hunter. Sophie starts to realize that Daniel and Jill have a lot more knowledge about international matters and she decides to spend the money she got from Kieran's death to travel overseas. Daniel suggest her go with her, but Sophie kindly breaks it off with him and on 29 March 2011, Sophie leaves to travel the world.

It turned out Hunter lent Sophie his jacket which had secondhand marijuana smoke on it and it didn't get past customs.
