Soyarabai was the second wife of Shivaji, founder of Maratha empire
in western India
. She was mother of Shivaji's second son, Raja Ram & younger sister of Maratha army chief HAMBIRRAO MOHITE PATIL.

went to Bangalore to meet Shahjiraje, Tukabai, the stepmother of Shivaji insisted on him marrying Soyarabai. Jijabai was reluctant, yet the marriage took place.

When Sambhaji became king, Soyarabai tried every means to dethrone him, but he overcame these attempts with the help of her brother Hambirrao Mohite, leader of their forces. When Sambhaji learned of his father's death, he captured all her followers. Soyrabai tried to poison Sambhaji but fortunately Sambhaji was saved.When he learnt of the plot he had her executed. . However, despite Soyrabai's cruel treatment to him, Sambhaji performed her last rites with the greatest respect.
