Spinister is described as an eerie aerial adventurer. Talks little, reveals less.His Nebulan partners are Singe and Hairsplitter. Single is a playboy who was in love with Zarak's daughter, joining the Decepticons to get close to her. Hairsplitter is an efficiency expert who was told the Decepticons would welcome someone who would keep an eye for slackers in their ranks.

Animated series
Although the animated series ended in the U.S. before Spinister was released, he appeared in animated form along with the Double Targetmasters in commercials for the toys.While an animated Transformers series continued in Japan at the time, the Double Targetmasters were not released in Japan, and therefore didn't make it to television there.
