. The production is an Irish inspired dance show that was originally formatted in the vein of Riverdance

, England, in 1996, it became an instant hit. Within two years the production became the world's most successful dance show, with 14 different companies performing this hit show in 14 different countries on the same night. The show propelled David King to fame and fortune. From being unemployed in 1996, King shot to the top of the show business rich and famous ladder within two years, and he now produces more than 20 different shows around the world. Spirit of the Dance has been seen by more than thirty million people worldwide. It currently has many touring productions around the world at any one time, including shows in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Monte Carlo, and at the Palace Theatre Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA. King's writing and producing credits have won him several international awards, including best international producer, best choreography, best original musical score, and many others.

King now owns two of his own theatres in America, which are The Palace Theatre, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the Branson Variety Theatre, in Branson, Missouri. The Palace theatre is reputed to be the largest theatre on the east coast of America, outside of New York, with 3,000 seats and international staging facilities.

According to information supplied by the Spirit of the Dance office in London, King's company currently employs almost 250 people worldwide, and is one of the largest employers of dancers in Europe. It has expanded in to one of the world's most successful production companies .

Current shows include; Spirit of the Dance, Man in the Mirror - The Michael Jackson Show, Tap Dance Fever, Broadway, the Star Spangled Celebration, Twist and Shout, Rock around the Clock, Le Grand Cirque, Adreneline, Dancing Queen, Solid Gold Motown, The 12 Irish Tenors, Frank Dean and Sammy, and the international Christmas hit The Spirit of Christmas.

In April 2011, Discovery Television, under their DMAX brand, ran a six part documentary series titled "Dancing King - Man in the Mirror" , a reality TV show, following King round the world as he made his latest Michael Jackson musical.
