Sports Tonight was an Irish
sports information programme broadcast on TV3. The programme was broadcast Monday-Friday at 11:30 pm, after Nightly News. Sports Tonight provided up-to-date comprehensive coverage of all that matters in sport. It was usually presented by Trevor Welch, with other TV3 sports journalists hosting occasionally. The show was axed on 23 March 2009 after broadcasting for nearly a decade. This was due to budgetary cutbacks at TV3 and an emphasis being placed on live sports.
