. The abbreviation comes from the original French name for the committee, Comité Permanent des Médecins Européens. CPME is composed of 29 member organizations, each of which is the most representative national medical organisation of a European Union/ European Economic Area country.

Goals

The aim of CPME is to "promote the highest standards of medical training and medical practice in order to achieve the highest quality of health care for all citizens of Europe". CPME is also concerned with the promotion of public health, the relationship between patients and doctors and the free movement of doctors within the European Unionhttp://www.cpme.be/policy.php.
