Stari Log is a settlement in the hills to the north of the town of Kočevje
in southern Slovenia
. It was a village settled by Gottschee Germans
. At the start of the Second World War its original population was expelled. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola
and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region

The local church, dedicated to Saint Margaret
, is mentioned in written documents dating to 1360. In 1511 it was damaged by an earthquake
and was rebuilt and extended. In 1691 it burnt down and was rebuilt in the Baroque style
