History
On January 14, 1998 the State Committee on Women’s Affairs was established by Presidential Decree. The committee regulated activities related to solution of existing problems in this field. On February 6, 2006 committee expanded with additional duties for solution of problems of families and children thus being re-established as the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs. Since its inception, the committees has promoted independence of women in civil societies in terms of earning for living and functioning while the lead family providers are away.Structure
The committee is headed by its chairman. Main functions of the committee are ensuring human and civil rights and freedoms, particularly those of women and children, prevent violation of these rights within its authority; preparation of state programs in the sector; ensuring implementation of the national treaties ratified by the Republic of Azerbaijan within its authority;implementation of state family policies; exploring social problems of refugees and forced migrants
