Her appointment as interim CEO on March 5, 2009, came as a surprise after the USOC Board fired the previous CEO Jim Scherr, who led the USOC since 2003.

After her graduation from Stanford in 1979, Streeter worked in product development, market analysis and sales management for an assortment of software and office equipment companies. She joined Banta as president and chief operating officer in 2001 and led the company in generating sales and a larger market share. She later presided over the sale of Banta in 2006.
