Stephen Thompson, born in 1966, sometimes credited as Steve Thompson, is a British playwright
and screenwriter
. He trained on the RADA
playwrights' course, and his first play, Damages was performed at the Bush Theatre
in 2004, winning the Arts Council
's Meyer-Whitworth Award for new writing. In 2005 he was made Pearson writer in residence at The Bush where his next play "Whipping It Up" was also performed. "Roaring Trade" was performed at Paines Plough and the Soho Theatre which also played "Song Of The City". His latest play "No Naughty Bits" was performed at Hampstead Theatre in September 2011.
On television, he has written: episodes of the 2007 ITV serial Whistleblowers; the Sherlock episode "The Blind Banker

". He has also written the finale of Sherlock season two, "The Reichenbach Fall" due to air on the BBC in 2012..
