Sterling Paper Products Enterprises is a school and office supply manufacturing company founded by Lim Seh Leng, father of Henry Lim Bon Liong
, the brainchild of the most sought hybrid rice in the country.
Sterling started out as Sterling Bookbinding in Binondo, Manila
in 1956, with family photo album as its main product. It grew and in 1960, additional products were introduced like, lettersets, stamp albums, autograph books and later expanded as Sterling Paper Products Enterprises in 1961, becoming a school and office supply shop.
When Lim Seh Leng died, his family took over the business. His oldest son, Henry
, assumed the reins of the company and flourished it. It now has a plant in Marilao
and a warehouse and distribution center in Meycauayan, Bulacan
, manufacturing notebooks, bags, puzzles, boardgames, wall charts and its pioneer products.
Sterling diversified in 1980's when it engaged in retailling. In 1984, its first retail outlet in Carriedo, Sta. Cruz was established and has branched out in Quezon City
and Makati. They are now known as Expressions which can be seen in different malls nationwide.
From its former land provided by the government of Laguna, it is now in the 40-hectare land in Santa Cruz, Laguna
, serving as its research and breeding complex.
