Steve Slaunwhite

Steve Slaunwhite is a Canadian author of business books, most notably on the topics of marketing and copywriting. He is the co-founder of International Freelancers Day, which is held each year on September 24.

Biography

In 1981, while still in high school, Slaunwhite became the first Canadian winner of the U.S.-based Scholastic Arts & Writing Award. A few years later, he earned a business degree from York University (Toronto, Canada). Upon graduation he began a career in professional sales during which time he published a number of sales-related articles in Sales And Marketing Journal, The American Salesman and other professional publications. In the 1990s he began a freelance copywriting career.

His first book, Start & Run A Copywriting Business (Self-counsel Press), was favorably reviewed in several publications including Wall Street Journal. His other books include The Everything Guide To Writing Copy (Adams Media), The Complete Idiot's Guide To Starting A Web-Based Business (Alpha) and The Wealthy Freelancer (Penguin).

Slaunwhite has also contributed sections and chapters to ten books including The White Paper Marketing Handbook and Web Copy That Sells.. He has been interviewed by the media for his marketing expertise in such publications as SoftwareCEO, DM News, and MarketingSherpa.

He has also won several competitive marketing and copywriting awards, notably the 2001 PROMO! Marketing Award, the 2006 ACE Award for Circulation Excellence and the 2009 Constant Contact All-Star Award for Email Marketing.
