Stisism were an American
punk rock
band from New York City
.
Stisism formed in the early 1980s, and played their first gig on September 14, 1983. They borrowed players from other local bands such as Adrenalin OD until their lineup stabilized when Fiona Lynn joined the band. The band played a snotty 1977-style punk rock in the vein of The Dead Boys
. Their lyrics are nonpolitical, instead derived from the members' interests, including horror and B-movies. Often the songs and lyrical content were fun and humorous.
During the mid-1980s, their songs could often be heard on Pat Duncan
's punk radio show on WFMU
. The band played many hard-core matinee shows at CBGBs on The Bowery in New York City. They also opened for The Ramones at ['Amour in Brooklyn.
Maximum RocknRoll
#150 featured an extensive five-page interview with the band. All releases received great reviews in various zines
