Stratford-on-Slaney also known as Stratford or Stratford-upon-Slaney, is a small village on the River Slaney
in West Wicklow
in Ireland

Stratford was founded in 1775 by Edward Stratford, 2nd Earl of Aldeborough, as a textile centre. Despite huge investment the industrial venture failed and Stratford practically disappeared. In 1837, before the Great Famine, the village had a population of 952. Despite some recent development, in 2002 the population was only 900.
