Styal railway station serves the village of Styal
near Manchester Airport in Cheshire

. There are limited services which of 3 per day in each direction with more frequent services on Sundays. Services are due to increase effective December 2011.
It won numerous best kept station garden awards in the 1940's and 1950's under stationmasters Mott, Hilton and Jackson. The garden is long abandoned but there are plans to uncover and restore some of it in Spring 2011.
Styal enjoyed a half-hourly service in each direction as recently as the mid-1990s. The construction of the airport rail link
in 1993 saw Styal services being reduced towards the current level of 3 services in each Direction each weekday. It is hoped that this might be reviewed positively in the future.

A petition was created to seek a resumption of a morning commuter service to Manchester and daytime services to serve HMP Styal and National Trust Styal as well as local residents.
The station is located on Station Road - 110 metres from the edge of the National Trust

History
The station was opened in 1909 with the construction of the line from Wilmslow to Manchester London Road (Piccadilly) Station.It won numerous best kept station garden awards in the 1940's and 1950's under stationmasters Mott, Hilton and Jackson. The garden is long abandoned but there are plans to uncover and restore some of it in Spring 2011.
