Reception
The album is one of Turrentines best received and was greeted with universal acclaim on release and on subsequent reissues. The Allmusic review by Thom Jurek awarded the album 4½ stars and states "If jazz fans are interested in Turrentine beyond the Blue Note period — and they should be — this is a heck of a place to listen for satisfaction".
