Shahab al Din Sulaiman shah, , was governor of Kurdistan and an Abbasid officer who was later promoted to commander in chief of the Caliphate army following the battle of Anbar.
He convinced the Caliph not to surrender to the Mongols, so the caliph commissioned him to defend the city,in February 1258 Hulagu executed Sulaiman shah along with 700 of his followers.
Sulaiman Shah who was originally king of Ivai confederation has been praised by the contemporary poet Atir Owmani.
