The Summa Health System Foundation, the system's philanthropic entity, provides vital funding for medical education, research and patient-care initiatives.Summa Health Network, Summa's physician-hospital organization, represents more than 900 physicians. The Summa [Enterprise Group] seizes for-profit opportunities to bring health-based products to the market. SummaCare, which received the highest accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), provides medical coverage for more than 80,000 members in Northeast Ohio.

Summa offers care in its Level III Perinatal Center and Level I Trauma Unit. Summa's Akron City and St. Thomas hospitals are teaching affiliates of the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine
(NEOUCOM), including a staff of more than 1,000 physicians and 13 accredited residency training programs to create a dynamic medical environment. Western Reserve Hospital is a teaching affiliate of the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-COM) and the Consortium of Osteopathic Research and Education (CORE). CFGH's staff includes more than 400 physicians and has seven accredited residency training programs.
Summa Health System serves more than a half million patients each year in comprehensive emergency, acute, critical, outpatient and long-term/home care settings and is the largest employer in Summit County. Working collaboratively with many other healthcare institutions, Summa is a member of the Cleveland Health Network, the largest provider network in Northeast Ohio.
In addition to its main camps in Cuyahoga Falls, Oh, Summa Western Reserve Hospital operates an advanced diagnostic testing center in the Summa Health Center at Western Reserve in Hudson, OH. The facility opened in January of 2010 and offers MRI, CT, Sleep and echocardiogram diagnostic testing services. In December, 2009, Summa Western Reserve Hospital opened a patient service center for laboratory in Stow, OH, offering general lab services. On March 1, 2010, Summa Western Reserve Hospital acquired the Stow Urgent Care and Occupational Health Services facility which will allow an alternative to the emergency room at a lower cost when patients' primary care physicians are not available; as well as provide a full range of occupational health services.
Summa Western Reserve Hospital also has a number of special programs, including a sleep medicine laboratory, on-site pharmacy, oncology/infusion center, offsite wellness and rehabilitation at the Natatorium Wellness Center and support groups that include chronic pain support and overeaters support. Summa Western Reserve Hospital is a teaching facility and sponsors graduate medical education teaching programs, serving as an affiliate of the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUCOM) and the Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education (CORE).
The hospital is a majority physician-owned joint venture between Western Reserve Hospital Partners (which represents a collaboration of more than 200 Northeast Ohio-based physicians, including primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists) and Summa Health System.

Summa Health System Foundation is a nonprofit philanthropic organization that supports patient care, medical education and research through philanthropy. Donations are received from patients and their families, employees, physicians and members of the broader community. Summa Health Network(SHN) is the physician-hospital organization affiliated with Summa Health System Hospitals, including Akron City and St. Thomas. SHN oversees mutually beneficial contracts with insurance companies, health-maintenance organizations (HMOs), preferred-provider organizations (PPOs), employers, third-party administrators and other payors on behalf of Summa Health System Hospitals and their affiliated physicians. November 2007 Summa Health System unveiled their 65000 square feet (6,038.7 m²) medical based fitness facility at the intersection of Hudson Drive and Terex Roads in Hudson, Ohio.
