Summer met a local surfer by the name of Jimmy Slade
and immediately became smitten with him. Despite his popularity with many other girls, the two finally began to date.

Summer and Matt began to get serious and even talked about moving in together but during the break between seasons 4 and 5 the two broke up. Summer found the break up to be extremely painful and she decided to move back to Pittsburgh and attend college there.
