The Super Sherpa is a 249 cc dual-sport motorcycle produced by Kawasaki
.
It was first offered in Japan in 1997 to present, and was sold in the United States from 1999 to 2003. Production and sales continued in Japan and other markets and Kawasaki recently decided to begin selling the Super Sherpa again in the United States starting in 2009. The new model remains unchanged from the previous model.
The Super Sherpa uses an air-cooled, single-cylinder engine mated with a six-speed transmission. It uses an electric starter and kick starter is not offered. Power output is estimated at around 14.57 horsepower. The Super Sherpa is capable of 83 miles per hour (37.1 m/s) and easily averages up to 70 miles per US gallon (29.8 km/L) in normal street use.
This bike is noted for having a digital speedometer and two digital odometers (and clock). The Super Sherpa does not have a tachometer
, though some riders have added aftermarket tachometers to their Super Sherpas.
Also, the USA Super Sherpas were issued with a low front fender whereas models elsewhere were issued with a high front fender.
