2008 was the third cycle of the reality TV series
in Spain
broadcast by Channel Cuatro. The show is based on Tyra Banks
' hit series America's Next Top Model
and is being hosted by Spanish model
Judit Mascó
.
In this season the show saw significant changes when former host Judit Mascó
left the show with Eloísa González replacing her. Also male contestants were allowed to enter who would compete in a separate competition from the females, whose winner would eventually be the representative for Spain on the annual Elite Model Contest as in the two years before.
In the beginning the top 50 from each gender was invited to the official casting audition which took part on a boat where the number of contestants was reduced to 20 in each gender on the first day. After several days of eliminations the top 8 for each gender was announced and the 16 contestants moved into the model villa.
From then on three contestants from each gender got nominated at the end of the week and when one girl and one guy were eliminated they were replaced by two new contestants.
All the changes and variations of the format proved to be very unpopular with Spanish audience and the show was cut after only 5 weeks on air. Since the competition was live the audience was voting for one male and one female winner in the last week with Eva Prieto and Alex Quirarte winning.
