The Sycamore Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race
held annually at Keeneland Race Course
in Lexington, Kentucky
. A Grade III
event open to horses age three and older, it is contested on turf
over a distance of 1½ miles.
Inaugurated in 1995, the Sycamore Stakes was run at a distance of 1⅝ miles from inception through 2000.
Due to extremely wet conditions, the Sycamore was run "off the turf" on the polytrack in 2011. It was also run at 1 and 5/8ths mile, originally scheduled for 1 and 1/2 miles. It has yet to be determined if it will retain its grade for this running.
