Between 2002 and 2004, TNA had held weekly pay-per-views. The first of these was held on June 19, 2002. In 2004, TNA felt that they had a fanbase that would support monthly pay-per-views. Slammiversary was created to counter WWE’s SummerSlamSummerSlam
