 of the Gobiidae family. It is predominantly found in coastal waters and estuaries, as well as rivers in offshore islands of East Africa, India, and Australia. It has been reported from Japan, Bangladesh, New Guinea and New Caledonia. This mud-dweller is capable of living out of the water for considerable time by taking air into the bronchial chambers. Up to 30 cm long, it feeds on crustaceans and other invertebrates.
