Al-Syed Tahir Allauddin AlGillani (al-Baghdadi) (also known as Naqeeb ul Ashraaf) was a Sufi Saint who lived in the 20th century. He was considered the head of Silsilah e Qadiriah, Custodian of the Shrine of Ghous-e-Azam Abdul-Qadir Gillani, the Spiritual Guide of over 10 Million Disciples from across the world and thought to be a reformer of Tassawwuf and Tariqat. He was born in Baghdad
on 18 June 1932 and died on 7 June 1991. He is the 17th descendant of the Shaykh Abdul-Qadir Gilani and the 28th descendant of Islamic prophet Muhammad
.
In 1956, Al-Syed Tahir Allauddin Al-Gillani Al-Qadri left Baghdad allegedly on the instructions of Abdul Qadir Mohyuddin Gillani and migrated to Pakistan, settling permanently in Quetta. He stayed in Pakistan till his demise in June 1991. He has three sons Al-Syed Mahmood Mohyuddin Al-Gillani Al-Qadri, Al-Syed Abdul Qadir Jamaluddin Al-Gillani Al-Qadri and Al-Syed Muhammad Ziauddin Al-Gillani Al-Qadri, who are all busy in propagating the teachings of Silsilah e Qadiriah Tahiria.

. The current Custodian of the Shrine of Abdul-Qadir Gilani is his elder-brother, Naqeeb-ul-Ashraf Al-Syed Ahmed Zafar Al-Gillani (who is the former ambassador of Iraq to Pakistan).
Al-Syed Tahir Allauddin Al-Qadri Al-Gillani studied under notable scholars of his time. His early education started in the mosque of Sultan Ali, Baghdad
. He then moved to the mausoleum of Abdul-Qadir Gillani. His teachers were renowned scholars of the time such as Mullah Syed Asad Afandi, Mufti Qasim, and Sheikh Khalil. He completed his Dars-e-Nizami and also acquired knowledge of Quran, Hadith
, and Fiqh
from the Grand Mufti of Iraq.
The funeral Prayer was held in Township (Lahore), which was led by Pir
Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari
. The Final Burial took place at 3 a.m.
The actual burial was originally planned to take place in Baghdad
, alongside the shrine of Abdul-Qadir Gilani and other Family Members of Al-Syed Tahir Allauddin Al-Qadri Al-Gillani but this was not possible due to the current war. The family then decided that the burial would take place in Pakistan but the location was unclear until it was decided to have Al-Syed Tahir Allauddin Al-Gillani brought to Lahore
and laid to rest with them in their city. A separate piece of land was allocated in Township, Lahore, which the family purchased. This area has now been renamed Baghdad Town. The Third Largest Itikaaf Gathering (after Makkah tul Mukurramah and Madinah Tul Munawwarah) is also held at this same location. His mausoleum is being built similar to the shrine of Abdul-Qadir Gilani.

Al-Syed Muhammad Ziauddin Al-Qadri Al-Gillani and currently has the unique distinction of being the only appointee and representative of Al-Syed Tahir Allaudin al-Gillani al-Qadri in the whole western hemisphere (U.K, Europe, America).

Demise

Children
All Three Sons are following in the footsteps of their esteemed father and their ancestors and have devoted their lives for the propagation of Silsilah e Qadiriah. For this purpose, they visit various places across Pakistan and the rest of the world and administer Baith in Silsilah e Qadiria Tahiria.- The eldest son, AlSyed Mahmood Mohyuddin AlGillani was born on the 14th of July 1968. He has three sons; AlSyed Tahir Hussamuddin AlGillani, AlSyed Abdur Rehman Saifuddin AlGillani and AlSyed Ahmed Nooruddin AlGillani. They bare a great resemblance to their father and have a large circle of tens of thousands of Mureeds across the globe. They have devoted their time for the Spiritual training and welfare of their followers and every year on occasions such as Laylatul Qadar, thousands of people pledge Baith on their hands at the Mazaar Shareef (Holy Shrine) of their father in Baghdad Town, Lahore.
- The middle son, AlSyed Abdul Qadir Jamaluddin AlGillani was born on the 4th of June, 1969. He has one son, AlSyed Yahya Shamsuddin AlGillani who was born on the 22nd of February 2010. He completed M.A in English and Foreign Affairs and is currently also a Minister of the National Assembly (MNA). For the propagation of Silsilah-e-Qadiria, he frequently travels to different countries and has a large circle of Mureeds across the entire world. The Darbar in Karachi (Al-Gillani House) is run under his supervision and every weekend, hundreds of people perceive to repent at his hands and perceive to pledge Baith in Silsilah e Qadiria.
- The youngest son, AlSyed Muhammad Ziauddin A-Gillani was born on the 28 May 1976. He has one son, Al-Syed Tahir Allauddin Al-Gillani who was born on the 12th of June 2008. He has completed M.A in Pak Studies in addition to LLB. He spent most of his time in Quetta. For the propagation of Silsilah-e-Qadiria, he frequently travels to countries across the world and has thousands of devotees across the entire world. .
