The school was founded in 1886 as Bournemouth High School, by Mary Broad, with eighteen pupils. In 1935 the school moved from its original site in Westbourne
to Talbot Woods, and the school name was changed to Talbot Heath. The school comprises a junior and a senior school; the school roll exceeds 600 pupils aged three to eighteen years.
The school is founded on Christian principles, but works with members of other faiths to ensure the spiritual support of the school community.
