Down Audley Road is the hamlet known locally as Venice, once overlooking the spoil tips created as a result of the extensive mining of coal in the area.

Talke Pits has an original Saxon cross that stands on the hill overlooking the Cheshire Plains. The Saxon cross actually stands opposite St Martins church at the highest point of Talke O' the Hill.
